Early winter in Viggeby, Linköping

Idag snöade i Linköping för första gång denna år. Eller...ska man säga för första gång den här säsong kanske. Snön kom tidigt i år. Det är bara den 10 november och  är inte redo för vinter!
I alla fall, det kändes mysigt med snön och vi tänkte passa på och gå på en kort vandringstur med Felix. Det var inget dåligt idé märkte vi.
Så klädde vi i vinter kläder och vi tog vandringskängor, vantar och mössor! Felix kom som han va och vi hade så bråttom att vi glömde ta relfexvästa för honom!

McGuyver körde bilen ur i garaget och hopp in i bilen med mig och Felix. Vi körde söder ut i Linköping där det finns en liten med mysigt naturreservat som heter Viggeby. Det finns en bra parkering med en informationskarta med mera. Efter 1 min promenad kommer man fram till en sandstrand med grill och allt man behöver för ett fint sommar kväll. Några meter från sandstranden finns en hundbad också, och det glädjer mig så mycket! Felix älskar att bada och han kan inte stå emot impulser att bara hoppa in i vattnet! Idag gjorde han inte det. Tror att det var lite för kallt för en dopp.

Efter några minuter bestämmer vi oss att gå igenom skogen istället av att gå längst vatten. Det var ju blött och våra kängor har ingen bra adherens på blött sten. Felix fick springa utan koppel och vi hade fast grund under benen. Men Felix kände att han måste agera ut på något sätt för att ha en bra söndag. Så hittade han en skit...eller likande... och ville lukta precis som den! Så fick han massa skit på nacke och hals för att lukta bättre än tidigare! Efter en kort "bad" med snö gick vi vidare och försökte inte störa oss på Felix nya lukt.

Efter några hundra meter kommer man till en udde, eller näs. Där har man en fin utsikt över sjön. Där tycker jag om att stanna några minuter och ta in allt som finns runt omkring.

Efter den underbara utsikten fortsätter vi åt jaktstugan. Då går man neråt några meter och fortsätter gå längst vatten. Sjön kommer in i landet en bit, leden går precis längst vatten efter den lilla udden. Det är så vackert att va så nära vattnet och höra alla magiska oljud den gör. 

Vi fortsätter gå åt jaktstugan men innan det kommer vi fram till en korsning. Felix luktar fortfarande, vi börjar fundera på alla andra saker vi behöver fixa hemma så bestämmer vi att svänga vänster till parkerings plats. 

Vägen tillbaka går man på grusväg. Det var svårt att säga precis vad det var pga snön men jag tror att det var grusväg.
Viggeby naturreservat bjuder på en fin och lätt dagstur med varierande landskap, lätt tillgänglighet från Linköping och ansluter sig till Östgötaleden! Om vädret tillåter kan man också grilla och bada!


Ps: Felix fick dusha strax efter vi kom hem! Han tyckte inte om det...men han har en fluffig och vacker päls nu :).

Today it snowed in Linköping for the first time this year. Or ... should I say for the first time this season to be more correct. The snow came early this year. It's only November 10th and I am not ready for winter!
Anyway, it felt kinda cozy with the snow and we were going to use this opportunity and go on a short hike with Felix. We noticed that it was not a bad idea at all.
So we got dressed in our winter clothes and we took the hiking boots, mittens and hats! Felix came as he was (he has fur you know!), and we were in such a hurry that we forgot to take the reflective vest for him!
McGuyver drove the car out of the garage and Felix and I jumped into the car. We drove south of Linköping where there is a small with cozy natural reservation called Viggeby. There is a good parking spot with an information map and much more. After 1 min walk you arrive at a sandy beach with barbecue and everything you need for a nice summer evening. A few meters from the sandy beach there is a "dog beach" too. Just a spot where the dogs are aloud to jump in the water and I looove when I see one of those! Felix loves to swim and he can't resist impulses to just jump in the water! Today he did not swim. Think it was a little too cold for a swim.

After a few minutes, we decide to walk through the forest instead of going on the "coast". It was wet after all and our boots have not a good adherence to the wet stone. Felix could run without a leash and we had solid ground beneath our legs. But Felix felt he had to act out to have a good Sunday. So ooooohe found a crap/shit  ... and wanted to smell just like it! So he got lots of shit on his neck and neck to smell better than before! Imagine how upset and frustrated we were! After a short "bath" with snow, we went ahead with our hike andd tried to ignore Felix's new smell.

After a few hundred meters you reach a cape, or nose. There you have a nice view of the lake. I like to stay there for a few minutes and take everything in! Just enjoying the peace and quiet of the Mother Nature!

After the wonderful view we continue to the hunting lodge. You walk down a few meters and continue walking along the water. The lake comes inland a bit and the trail along thewater after the small cape. It is so beautiful to be so close to the water and hear all the magical noises it makes.

We keep hinking to the hunting lodge but before that we arrive at a crossing. Felix still smells, we start to think about all the other things we need to fix at home so we decide to turn left to the parking spot.

On th way back we got on a country road. It was hard to say exactly what it was because of the snow but I think it was country/stoney road.

Viggeby Nature Reserve offers a nice and easy day hike with varying landscapes, easy access from Linköping and it connects with the Östgöta Trail! If the weather permits you can also grill and swim (but not in November)!





Ps: Felix got a shower shortly after we got home! He didn't like it ... but at least he is fluffy white shiny dog now :).
